S O U N D at N U
Below are samples of my work made during my studies in Sound Arts and Industries at Northwestern University.
Sound for Animation
Re-design of scene from Sailor Moon.

Made using a shared effect library, contributed to by all members of the class, and a randomization process to determine the location/use of effects.

Radio Documentary
1-min Vox-Pop, on-the-street interviews mixed in ProTools.
A poetic representation of my love for the water, based in a single location. Mixed in ProTools.
Archival based short story using tape from the Columbia Armenian Oral History Archive and narration. Mixed in ProTools, audio cleanup done in Audition and ProTools.
This short podcast combines that same archival tape of my Great Grandmothers survival of the Armenian genocide with an interview I conducted of my mother. Through this, I wanted to create a representation of the liveliness and perseverance of those survivors, and in addition create a document that could be found 50 years from now, which is how long it has been since the original interview was recorded.
Film Sound II: Experimental
Short film created under an assignment to use the SPACE plugin with a recorded impulse response. My intention was to create a liminal space based on the feeling of the environment: separated physically and emotionally from nearby hustle and bustle, but eternally connected. This uses a mix of sourced effects, location recordings, and generated signals. Audio mixed in ProTools, video in Premiere Pro.

Short film created as a development of a short film made in my undergraduate experimental film course (An Illusion of Means). Focused on the dynamic environment between fear and comfort, and the blurred lines for those who struggle with their mental health. This piece uses a mix of biological and mechanical sounds, with an underlying drone that aids in defining entry and departure from this space. From the Brain Volts lab at NU, I was given the recordings collected in a study I participated in— the Brain Keyboard Study. These recordings are the electrical responses of my own brain to different notes (FFR), which I then applied to a Midi keyboard in Logic Pro and used in combination with grand piano to build the drone and slight musical accompaniment. Audio mixed in ProTools, Audition, and Logic Pro, video in Premiere Pro.

Audio Playground
Short scripted conversation with an inanimate object. Mixed in ProTools.
Short scripted audio tour of a single location. Mixed in Pro-Tools.
Sound Studies
Designed using foley, self-recorded underwater sounds, and SanctSound recordings of underwater life from NOAA. Mixed in ProTools and Audition.
Using the Aquatic Soundscape as a base and introducing human voice, this piece becomes a reflection of the balance between nature and humanity, placing the human voice as an unsettling, though inconsistent disruption of the natural environment. Mixed in ProTools and Audition.
Film Sound I Final Project

Collaborative assignment replacing dialogue (voice actors: myself and Michelle Guzman), clothing pass, and movement matching in a scene. Clip selection done as a group, initial mix done in ProTools by myself, finalized by the group.
